Volunteer

Village Commons is about working together

toward a common vision, a common purpose.

WE NEED YOU to help make this vision a reality!

Please consider lending your time and talent to one of our gardening, recycling, or renovation projects, or help out with our special events.  Help us green the Natural State, and build and strengthen neighborhoods and communities in the process.  If sustainability matters to you, we hope you will join with us to ensure that ALL of us benefit.  To get involved contact us for more information

Would you like to teach others a new skill or hobby?  Would you be interested in leading some type of workshop or discussion?  Sharing through learning environments is a great way to build community.

Let Village Commons be the host of your next brainchild!

All inquiries or suggestions, please call or email us.

Come Dig in the Dirt with Village Commons

Every Saturday we will be working on our community gardens.  Come and join us!

Bring gardening gloves, water, gardening tools, and wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

Saturdays we will start the morning working in the Hoover Garden, located at 12th and Oak, from 8am to 10am.

Then we will go over to the Crump Garden, located at the Crump Park, for more garden work from 10am to 12pm.

We also need volunteers Friday mornings from 9am to 12pm to help plan a teaching garden at the Bernice Garden.

Help us at our Office

Friday mornings we need office volunteers to help with all the administrative activities.

Speak Spanish?

We would like to have a Spanish speaker who could work as a special liaison for VC with the Associacion de Mujeres de Arkansas. We are working together on our healthy communities projects and we will be helping them with their health fairs around the state. This is one of those important collaborative activities that we believe fits well into our goals and objectives. If anyone is interested in learning more about AMA or want to volunteer please email Lupita Chavarria at lupitachavarriag@yahoo.com

Have a Knack for Radio?

We are looking for somebody that could do production work for a local radio program for our organization so that we could begin to use radio to spread the word about our programs.

Tech Help

We could use somebody to support our efforts to use technology in making presentations and for programming. We would like to use community mapping for planning and identification of specific work projects.

Community Projects

If you have specific talents that we might be able to use for community projects let us know and help us to find the ways that we can use your talents in creative ways. Good things are happening, so join in as and when you can.
